Opened in 2019, the climb to the Col de la Loze is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular in the Alps. With its summit reaching 2,304 metres (7,559 ft), this pass ranks as the third-highest in Savoie after Iseran and Galibier. It’s typically open from June onwards.
The route begins at the Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains station and winds through the valley along the Bozon river until reaching the village of Brides-les-Bains. Unique in France, the village has created a Healthy Eating Label to certify innovative, delicious and balanced cuisine. Take advantage of this opportunity for a nutritious pitstop before embarking on the climb.
The road passes close to the swimming area of Lac du Praz before traversing Courchevel. This prestigious resort is nestled in the heart of the largest ski area in the Trois Vallées.
The Col de la Loze cycle path begins at the Altiport. From there, the last 5.8 kilometres (3.6 mi) of the climb are traffic-free and reveal absolutely fantastic panoramas that’ll distract you from the 10% inclines. At the summit, the mountain restaurant ‘Le 1928’ welcomes you for well-deserved refreshments.
