Paderborn Lakes Tour PB1 – watery wonders as far as the eye can see

When somebody makes a journey, then he can tell something! Today Rusty & I had arranged to go on a (actually 🫣) comfortable bike ride in Paderborn & according to the plan 😉 there should be a lot 💦... However, that it would be sooo much 🪣💧🪣💧🪣💧, neither of us expected that 😳☔️! It has - as they say in Lippe - "splashed 🌧" & we were soaking wet 🚿🫠. Good thing it was warm summer rain 🌧! In addition to great murals (large-format 🎨 wall paintings), graffiti 🌈🖌, the castle 🏰 Neuhaus & a small tour through Paderborn, there were a total of 7 lakes 🌊💧 to see 🚣: the fish ponds (with 🪷 water lilies), the Tallesee, the Waldsee, the Habichtsee, the small Thuner See, the Lippesee & the Padersee. We were also accompanied - to my great joy 😇 - by the Lippe 💦, the Boker-Heide Canal 💦, the Thune 💦, the Alme 💦 & the crystal-clear, beautiful Pader 💦💙, Germany's shortest river at only 4 km. For this occasion I trained 🚂 driving again, I can definitely use that this summer 🌞! Very easy route. It goes through a lot of the city/urban area. Motorways and federal highways are often within earshot. Overall: So-so...

A very nice tour with lots of beautiful trails. And also suitable for kids. The weather was great. We'd love to come back again. It's quite busy at Lake Lippe on May 1st.

Ideal in hot weather, as there are a lot of shady routes.

Nice little tour around the lakes and delicious eaten in Paderborn. Tour is super easy and very well signposted.

This afternoon I got on my bike again and went for a little swim. Since I'm working at home at the moment, I decided to put work aside and soak up some vitamin D instead. It was nice to cycle past the Talle, Wald and Habichtsee, also past the Lippesee and Richtersee (water skiing) and back to the Lippesee and past the Padersee to quickly have a scoop of 🍨 in the city.

Small round at almost 30°C, just driving without rest and pictures. Simply get used to the temperatures when you go to the NRW bike tour (29.06.-02.07.23), not only have plenty of fluids with you, but also drink a lot, otherwise the mineral balance will be upset. If you sweat a lot, you also have to drink a lot. By the way, I took the photo last night in my garden. With this in mind, have a nice Sunday.
