Day 7 from Bruneck to Brixen In the morning we looked at Bruneck again and then we enjoyed the last 37 km to Brixen again. Our tour ends today in Brixen. We had a wonderful 413 km and 3310 hm. Super great landscapes, mountain panoramas and beautiful places where we stayed. Once again it was great. Until the next tour Roswitha and Rainer I have summarized all stages in our collection "Around the Dolomites - September 2022". The travel report will be made when we are back home. 🚴🚴♂️😉
Because the stage was quite unspectacular, here are a few photos from the bicycle fair in Brixen; I was allowed to test drive the successor model of my Ghost Asket with a carbon frame and almost didn't let it go 🤩🚴♂️⛰️
Here too the text follows later. The actual cycling trip is now over and the circle is closed. :)
From Gais via Bruneck, mostly along the Rienz, on very nicely developed bike paths to Brixen. We went back by train. The weather was good, although poorly forecast. What more could you want?!😊 Brixen is a beautiful city worth seeing 🤩
Day 5 tour brought forward to today, as it shouldn't rain in this region ... that's how it was (apart from a few small droplets) ... the rain gear for some of the passengers was only prophylactic. A nasty broken frame in a passenger after the lunch break, fortunately he was driving very slowly and nothing happened to him. Ride by bike from Riscone to Brixen, then load the bikes there and still have time for a stroll through town. Free time in Brixen is in a separate hiking record. from the prospectus: Day 5: Bike tour from Pustertal to Eisacktal (approx. 30 km) We start with the bikes near Bruneck and cycle through the Pustertal in a westerly direction. We reach Ehrenburg via the small elevation of the Pflaurenzer Kopf and reach the Mühlbach reservoir. From there it goes through the beautiful village center of Mühlbach and on to Brixen, the oldest town in Tyrol. We have enough time to look at the old town, which is well worth seeing, with the beautiful arcades and the imposing cathedral. In the afternoon return to the hotel. Dinner.
It takes until the evening before wine and grappa are sweated out. In honor of a deceased friend, I dined lavishly at the Brixener Traubenwirt. With a lot of effort I leave the Eisack Valley and turn into the Puster Valley. A quiet section along the Rienz River with only moderate inclines. That suits me as well as the fully booked Dobbiaco. I save kilometers and only drive as far as Bruneck. As of today, no more experiments with unfamiliar alcoholic beverages. I reach my destination by noon and recharge my batteries in the Forst Brauereigasthof.
From Bruneck, after a small breakfast, always downhill. Partly on old Roman roads, but always well-developed cycle paths. Always down the valley and a bit up to Franzensfeste. From here, take the train to Brenner. From there, part two
At the moment I'm "constantly lagging" 😂 with my reporting a day behind 🙈... On Thursday, after starting my tour in Mittewald, I went to Franzensfeste, just a few km away... and of course it makes sense to visit the famous fortress (9 € entrance fee). You get an eerie feeling when you look at the bunker rooms in particular, how people lived there during wartime, survived and defended themselves against the enemy 😥🤔. Especially now, when world peace is hanging by a very thin, silken thread, you start to think about it very seriously 🥺🙏. After the tour, the journey continued through the beautiful Pustertal, past the Mühlbacher Klause castle ruins. Shortly before St. Lorenzen, a storm was approaching, the sky turned black, a violent storm started... I got there just in time to find safety in a cafe and waited until everything had passed. I then cycled on to Bruneck, which was not far away... and since I admittedly still felt the effects of the previous day with the great heat and the exertion up to the Brenner Pass, I spontaneously decided to look for my next place to stay here and end the day in a relaxed manner 🍹☺️.
