The Taburiente Caldera National Park is the very heart of La Palma. And one of the best itineraries to explore it is the one that begins at the Los Brecitos viewpoint and ends at the Las Angustias ravine.
This Route takes you to discover many of the most special corners of the park: viewpoints that leave you speechless, trails that run among the famous Canarian pine trees, views of Teide rising imposingly on the other side of the ocean, waterfalls and rivers with crystal-clear waters, and multiple ravines with dizzying vertical scarps. It is very difficult to explain in words all the majesty of this journey.
It is a long itinerary, full of ups and downs. Towards the middle, next to the so-called “Taburiente beach”, there is a service center with a camping area, a small exhibition, bathrooms and a first aid station. It is perfect for having a picnic and continuing the adventure.
The Route begins and ends at the Viña parking lot, in the Las Angustias ravine. You have two options. The first is to start walking from that same point and travel the distance between the parking lot and the Los Brecitos viewpoint on foot, going along a steep and not very interesting road (private cars cannot enter the road). Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the car park to take you to the viewpoint. There are always taxis waiting and you can share with other hikers.

My final round 😍 .... for this year. Because it is so beautiful🌺🥾🏞️🤠😎
A difficult route for able-bodied people. The trail from the car park up is probably rarely used. Poorly trodden paths and at about 2 kilometres a signpost shows the direction and partly runs a path that I had to find and unfortunately leads to 3 private properties with a closed gate. I continued along the asphalt road to the nearest entrance to the trail. Further on we reach the car park and the viewpoint and here it is easier because it is downhill. After going down to the stream bed we go back upstream to Cascada des Colores. Return to the car park on a stony bottom, much changed by heavy rains. High trekking shoes are a must
This tour, like the tunnel tour, is one that you always enjoy doing🌺😎 I still have a few days and it's on the plan again. Especially in the morning the path is up in the shade and is easy to walk on. It is really hot on the way back. I had to climb with others because we missed the hiking trail and are always following the water, but it was on At the end of a little adventure built in and nice too 😊🤠
The first part of the route we took a taxi up the hill. Saves you 2 hours walking and cost you 50 Euro. That service is provided on the parking. Beautiful route through pine forest with great mountain views and along an impressive Baranco. Half way is a campsite with facilities. Depending on the water level you have to cross the river a few times. Doing a short of the road track (500 meter each way) you can visit Cascada de Colores with it's orange water.
According to the hiking guide a "must" for every La Palma hiker. Which he's not so wrong about. Great hike from the Los Brecitos parking lot (via shuttle) into the caldera and then back out over the "gorge of the fear of death". Beautiful pine forest hiking trail and beautiful gorge hike in the caldera.
Hello friends of well-maintained hiking, One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done. Parked at the Barranco de Angustinas hiking car park (free). The drive from Los Llanos alone is not for the faint of heart! Narrow, tight bends with no clear view make the journey an adventure! Taxis are available at the WP to continue to the Mirador Los Brecitos; the price is €51.00 per vehicle. The price – in my opinion – is justified. Once at the top, enjoy the view of the mountains of the caldera. The first part of the hike down to Playa de Taburiente is on a narrow path without any major challenges. Views open up again and again. There is an information booth at Playa de Taburiente that is worth a visit. There are also rest areas for a break. There is also a campsite on the site. The second part of the hike from Playa de Taburiente back to the WP is more difficult. There are some exposed sections of the trail, so a head for heights is essential. A detour to the Cascada Colorada (waterfall) is a must! Info on Barranco de las Angustinas: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barranco_de_Las_Angustias Conclusion: Oh yes, definitely do it! A fantastic hike in breathtaking scenery.
One of the most popular hikes, many hours of wonderful views of the rocks and forest landscape. The path from the bottom of the gorge to Los Brecitos is covered in vehicles with a special permit. The tour itself is easy, mostly along the slope. In the middle part slippery passages. The last section leads through the river bed (partly bypass routes). Length, walking time, requirements: 14.5 km, 4:15 hours walking time, plan 8 hours (start in the winter half-year at 9 a.m. because of the twilight). Altitude difference + 100 m/1000 m. Condition, head for heights and sure-footedness are prerequisites. Additional equipment: bathing suit and towel for the often wet river crossing. Don't go when it's raining (weather forecast) or if it has rained in the previous days. Directions: In Los Llanos follow the signs to "Caldera". At the car park in thegorge, change to the chauffeur service, €51 per vehicle, there are always passengers. Start no later than 10 a.m.
This tour is definitely one of the highlights of the island of La Palma and should definitely be done during your stay! From the car park you can take a taxi to the starting point and from there start the hike comfortably. The waterfall is very impressive and worth the climb. Cascada de los Colores is very beautiful, but that's not why I would do the tour because the path is more beautiful than the destination. Once again a full recommendation 🤩
