A quiet field and woodland walk to an Iron Age hill fort. Then, continue to a stream-side hamlet on the edge of Castle Hill. There are views across the beautiful Avon Valley with its wildlife-rich water meadows and pasture and an optional detour to Castle Hill fort before returning along field and woodland paths to Godshill.

The Fighting Cocks Pub

This is a gorgeous pub and well-worth stopping by for some well-deserved food and drink. There are log fires here and a play area for children, so whether you are on your own, with friends or family, you will enjoy it.

Folds Farm Footbridge

Highlight • Forest

A very green and picturesque area. On the footpath to Fold Farm is this footbridge over a stream feeding into the River Avon. Next door is the very English Miss Marple-like brook cottage on the edge of the Godshill Inclosure woodland. All in all, a beautiful part of the world.

View of Avon Valley from Frankenbury Hill Fort

Highlight • Historical Site

Frankenbury is the site of an Iron Age hill fort that strategically overlooks the Avon Valley.

The steep natural slopes on your left from the western and souther side defences of the fort. The north-east sides were defended by simply a bank and ditch. The fort encloses eleven acres and various artefacts have been found, including Iron Age and Roman pottery and coins.
