Hiking
Quaint hollow ways, unspoiled nature, and breathtaking rock formations make the Tecklenburg Mountain Trail one of the most beautiful hikes in the region. Even though the name of this Teutoburg Forest loop might suggest otherwise, you can expect only a few meters of elevation gain. Nevertheless, you'll be rewarded with magnificent views and impressions.
The starting point of the circular tour is the Münsterlandblick parking lot. However, you can also start in the town if you're arriving by public transport. The Gräfin-Anna-Straße stop in the old town is a convenient option. Initially, you'll walk a few meters along the Hermannsweg trail, but soon leave it to join the lovingly designed forest nature trail.
A narrow path leads through the picturesque Teutoburg Forest with a detour to the Blücherfelsen (Blücher Rock). This rock formation was named after the Prussian general who fought against Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo. The rocks also make a lovely resting place.
After crossing the railway tracks, you'll hike along the edge of a former limestone quarry, where the water shimmers magically in turquoise hues. After crossing the tracks a second time, you'll slowly make your way back to the starting point along the winding Witches' Path. In the picturesque old town of Tecklenburg, you can then bring your hike to a fitting close.
The Tecklenburg Mountain Trail has even been nominated as one of Germany's most beautiful hiking trails. You can vote at https://wandermagazin.de/wahlstudio and win fantastic prizes.

still enjoying this beautiful sunday. Still a nice walk, not many kilometers but quite some steep hills with beautiful views, all in all a wonderful walk.
Today I had to walk again. So put on your hiking boots, pack your dog and tie your backpack and off you go. Weather should be bearable for both. 😅 Tour is great, up and down in the forest and in the sun... 🥵 but I had enough to drink for both of them.
I took the description of the hiking trail from the internet "Teutoschleifen.de" today and attached it as a screenshot 🤗
Hello, everyone! Tecklenburger Bergpfad (Teutoschleife) Forests and forest edges with wide views of the Münsterland offer varied landscape experiences. The nature reserve near Brochterbeck with poor grass and an abandoned quarry are a wonderful contrast to the forest. Open fields and lovely meadows on the edge of the forest complete this beautiful hiking composition (see German Hiking Institute / Premium hiking trails)! The parking lot at the Bismarck Tower is chargeable (day ticket 4 € _11 / 2021). LG and Fresh Up! Joe
Even clockwise, the loop isn't entirely easy. The long climb up the Teuto River is a drag. Unfortunately, the tree trail has suffered a bit. Forestry work must have taken place there recently. From Tecklenburg and the southern part of the route, there are repeated, beautiful views over the Münsterland region.
Untouched nature and medieval charm This is how the Teutoschleife Tecklenburg mountain path presents itself, which is characterized by a lot of untouched nature, some wonderful panoramic views and medieval charm. We start the hike at the Münsterlandblick car park, from where you can also enjoy a first beautiful view of the Münsterland. After a short stretch of road, you quickly descend into a beautiful forest area. Here we share the path with the witch path. After about 1.3 km we make a short detour (100 m) to Roland's grave. The Roland grave is an old family crypt that belonged to Gut Hülshoff. The small burial chamber was created in 1840 and was originally closed with a metal door. Today there is only the empty cave carved into the stone. We continued our hike and after another 500 m take the turnoff to the Heiden Tempel Felsen, which is also on the witches' path. This branch, which is only 200 m long, leads up a fairly steep path, which we also have to descend again after visiting the rock. The further path leads us varied through forest and meadow landscapes. We pass the "Forest Music", a piano standing by the wayside, which invites you to play. From there it goes through the nature reserve at Kleeberg, a former quarry. Shortly before we reach the Dornenstein, a large herd of robust Bentheim sheep stands in their meadow. Bentheim sheep are an endangered domestic sheep breed that is over 150 years old and was created by crossing Dutch and German heathland sheep. This breed is hardy and undemanding. This makes it particularly well suited to grazing and keeping open the low-growing semi-arid limestone grassland. The path leads us via Brochterbeck to the Blücherfelsen, a small group of rocks on the Klotenberg. It was named after the Prussian military governor of the province of Westphalia and later Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, who as governor is said to have often sat on the rocks and enjoyed the view. Today the view is blocked by trees. A little further we reach the forest chapel "Maria Wegweiserin". You return to Tecklenburg via the educational forest trail with its various tree species and along a historic rampart. Shortly before the finish we look at the Bismarck Tower. The monument, erected by the Bismarck Association in 1909, stands on the remains of a former mill. --- This hike is part of our Collection: "Hiking in the Tecklenburger Land" https://www.komoot.de/collection/1464991/-wandern-im-tecklenburger-land
After a long hiking break, finally made another nice round 🌳🌲and I / we hope that many more beautiful tours will follow
The most beautiful Teutoschleife I've hiked so far - fantastically soft forest paths, moderate gradients, a high proportion of paths, lots of green coniferous forest and a forest nature trail that is a bit reminiscent of the Wuppertal Arboretum ... even sequoias were there.
