From Grand-Bornand, renowned in the world of cycling, this round-trip route leads to a little-known pass: the Col des Annes. Located in the heart of mountain pastures below the Pointe d’Almet, this land is the cradle of farmhouse Reblochon. Its welcoming inn will not fail to introduce you to this heritage to reward your efforts.
Departure is from the center of Grand-Bornand. A ski resort and village crossed many times by the Tour de France, it has numerous shops and amenities. The first part quietly runs along the Borne at the bottom of the valley.
When you pass the junction of the Bouchet chapel, the slope begins to seriously rise. Some passages exceed 12%. The road leading to the pass offers panoramic views of the Aravis range. These magnificent landscapes transcend your efforts towards the pass.
When you reach the Duche Chapel, most of the climb is behind you now. The road winds through open terrain which provides breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Arriving at the pass, its inn allows you to recover from your efforts while enjoying the spectacle of green and uncrowded nature.
A word of advice: pay attention to the water pipes laid across the road going down under the Col des Annes.
