Hiking
The Raemel chain, two kilometers long, blocks the horizon and culminates at an altitude of 832 meters. It is the highest point of the Alsatian Jura, which is accessed via a picturesque limestone ridge, the customs officers' or smugglers' path, which follows
the French-Swiss border. Quite a sporty walk, in the heart of the Wolschwiller Forest Biological Reserve which is home to a
exceptional fauna and flora. The magnificent panoramas of the French and Swiss Jura, notably that of the tower
Raemelsberg, complete this attractive hike, the most mountainous in Sundgau. This is personally my favorite, especially since we suggest you take a trip to Switzerland to discover Burg Castle, which is not in ruins!

Autumn is finally here. After the long late summer phase, this weekend we start into the real autumn feeling with fresh temperatures and ideal weather to stretch your legs in the mountains. Today we are in beautiful Sundgau, close to the Swiss border. It starts in Wolschwiller and goes on a circular tour up to the Remel Tower. After we leave the town, we follow a field path to the forest and from here hike a leisurely climb over a wide forest path. The Roti Flue is our first destination and a short detour to the actual route. Here we have our first view of the surrounding mountains of the Swiss Jura. We switch back to the ridge path, which also marks the border between France and Switzerland. This is followed by a series of beautiful viewpoints, some on larger rocky outcrops that slope steeply towards the south. At the highest point of the path is the Remeltum, a simple lookout tower built on a pillar that can be climbed via a vertical ladder. From here there is a beautiful view over the Jura, but also towards the Vosges or Basel and Chrischona. We are unable to see the Alps today due to the clouds. It goes back down to Burg im Leimental. The Swiss town is home to Burg Castle, also known as Biederthal Castle. But we immediately switch back to Sundgau and pass the Saint Jean de Népomucène chapel in the forest, which is on the way back to Wolschwiller. Overall, a not too long and varied hike with beautiful views. Relive Video: https://www.relive.cc/view/vJOKZ1J7j5v
