Hiking
The route leads along one of the most beautiful trails in Tyrol along the western shore of the Achensee. From Achenkirch you always wander in easy up and down on a partly well-developed with steps and handrails trail to Gaisalm, the only Alm of Tyrol, which can be reached only on foot or by boat. You can expect a magnificent landscape with small waterfalls, mixed forests and alluvial cones that reach into the "Tyrolean fjord". In many places there are bathing possibilities. Along the riverside path you reach Pertisau and later on the way next to the Achensee steam cog railway the village Maurach.
At the station Seespitz, which is at the same time the landing stage and the last stop of the Achensee steam cog railway, it is possible to take a ship back to the starting point to Achenkirch. To the timetable: www.tirol-schiffahrt.at
Incidentally, this tour section is part of the long-distance trail "The Alpine Crossing". All information can be found here: www.die-alpenueberquerung.com

Luckily it got brighter again quickly, so that we could even take a refreshing footbath. From Maurauch we have the bus 🚌 to Jenbach and on with the Zillrtalbahn to Fügen, the start of our tomorrow's stage

Along the Mariensteig we had fantastic views of Lake Achensee.
For Mariensteig you should be free from giddiness and sure-footed.

A spectacular hiking trail, which we hiked in March 2016. From breakfast to noon you make the full trip back and forth. The warning "you should be free from giddiness" should take beginners seriously. Narrow paths close to the dripping precipice - simply spectacular. Hats off, who built the path with
