Cycling

It starts at the swimming lake in Mantel. From here you cycle on the Haidenaab cycle path via Steinfels and Bruckendorfgmünd to the Dießfurt leisure lake. On warm days you can take a break here and refresh yourself in the water. We then continue past Schwarzenbach and through a romantic alluvial forest to Dießfurt. You can see the impressive hammer lock from afar.

After a stop in the city, you cycle on the Haidenaab cycle path via the Kahrmühle to Pressath. Here you leave the Haidenaab and cycle on the asphalted cycle path to Eschenbach. Afterwards you take a lap around the Kleiner Rußweiher, a moorland bathing lake. You will also pass the Großer Rußweiher, which is part of one of the oldest nature reserves in Germany and a “bird sanctuary”.

Back in Eschenbach you make your way back. This takes you via Grafenwöhr, where you can visit the cultural and military museum and make a stop at the forest pool, back to Mantel.

Dießfurt Recreation Lake

Highlight • Lake

The popular natural swimming pond with its two swimming lakes invites you to cool off and then sunbathe on the natural pebble beach. And since swimming usually makes you hungry, a little refreshment in the nearby Josephsthal Inn with its beer garden is almost a good idea.

Dießfurt Castle

Highlight • Castle

The listed Hammerherrenschloss is located directly on the Haidenaab Cycle Path. The two-part complex consists of the so-called "Old Castle", a tower-like construction with Eckerker and the "New Castle". The castle is privately owned and can only be visited from the outside.

Kleiner Rußweiher

Highlight • Lake

Watch birds at the Rußweiher, stop for a swim at one of the bays or stop at the Hexenhäusl, something for everyone.

The cultural and military museum not only offers a good insight into the development of the town of Grafenwöhr, but also into the development and history of the military training area.

October 26, 2024,Mantel - Russweiher und zurück
From Mantel via Dorfgmünd, Pressath Grosser Russweiher back via Grafenwöhr to Mantel.
The tour mostly runs on tarred or gravel cycle paths.
A very nice tour, there is also a nice place to stop at the Russweiher.

Today I made the second bike tour of the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district, the family tour to the Russweiher in Eschenbach. After the "sports tour", because I liked it so much, I signed up for this NEW bike tour and the family tour also goes through a wonderful landscape. However, the route differs from the "sports tour" and is …
