We went to Ahrenshoop...following the artists' paths. The tour went along the Ahrenshoop Art Trail. If you're interested, you can read about the creation of the works and artists at various stops. Ahrenshoop offers a wide variety of art, steep banks, dune landscapes, meadows, forests, and, of course, the sea. There are plenty of them everywhere along the dike.
After our bike ride to Ahrenshoop on Tuesday, we absolutely had to come back and take a closer look at this artists' town. This tour truly includes everything you need to see. I couldn't stop taking photos 🤭. We parked at the mill: the day ticket there costs only €3.00 (!!!) - all other parking lots in town cost €15.00. And even at 11:00 a.m., there were still plenty of spaces available. The route first led us to the beautiful Seamen's Church, then a short distance along the Bodden, and finally into town. There were stops everywhere with pictures and explanations from local artists. We particularly enjoyed the picturesque path out of town above the cliffs. Sabine even found a stone along the way (I was too blind again 🙈). At the end, we had coffee and delicious cake in the mill café - wrapped up in blankets and in a stiff breeze...☕️🍰. A great tour 🤩
The tour started at the parking lot near the mill. You can park your vehicle here for a day for €3, which is nicely hidden away. The tour begins along the Bodden, and the rest of the way leads through Ahrenshoop and above the Baltic Sea coast. You can discover some interesting paintings along the art trail and learn about their creation by the respective artists. The Thorn House and its garden were another highlight. You'll want to bring a thick wallet, as card payments aren't accepted.
Ahrenshoop is an artists' town by the sea. As a philistine, the first thing I had to do was inspect the beach. You can walk for miles. The cliffs are fascinating. This section of the beach is actually off-limits. Hardly anyone obeyed this rule. 🫢🫣The cliffs can fall at any time. But as is often the case, the forbidden is the attraction. Above is a high-shore path that definitely offers stunning views. 🌊☀️
