Here is a hike that offers a superb route to one of the most popular sites in the Basque Country and the Pyrenees: the Holzarte footbridge. The loop offers a beautiful immersion in the Olhadubi gorges before gaining height to offer clear views.
The departure is at the parking lot of the Logibar hostel, not far from the small village of Larrau. The red and white markings of the GR 10 accompanies you for a large part of the journey. Many signs indicate the footbridge. This is accessible by a fairly steep path and presents itself to you at the last moment. Its suspension bridge rises almost 180 meters above the gorges.
Once the footbridge is crossed, the path continues to climb, still following the GR 10. The path winds through the forest before emerging into a green setting. From now on, you overlook the gorges for several kilometers while crossing waterfalls and streams.
A magnificent path runs along the side of a hill while providing magnificent panoramas of the mountains. You finally reach the highest point of the route. A steep but short descent plunges into the woods to finally arrive at the starting point, at the Logibar inn.
