Hiking
This pretty course, located in the foothills of the Basque Country, offers beautiful panoramas of the Pyrenees chain as well as the Atlantic coast. The starting point is in the center of the village of Ossès, not far from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
The route is divided into two parts, a first ascending phase towards the summit of Baigura. Then a downhill section, which passes through the Laina before forming a loop to return to Ossès. You start by embarking on a relatively wide track which climbs gradually.
The start of the climb includes the steepest percentages. Then, the slope calms down and you take pretty balcony paths on the mountainside. You first pass the summit of Laina to reach Baïgura. On a clear day, it offers a great 360 degree panorama.
You then turn back towards Laina which also offers its share of viewpoints. Finally, you plunge into a long descent which alternates passages in the undergrowth with more open portions until you reach the center of Ossès.
