Discover the Po delta on this 44 kilometer itinerary that takes you pedaling along waterways, through the Canneviè oasis and then arriving at the Adriatic Sea. Continue the route inland to the city of Comacchio.
The itinerary starts from Mesola where the Mesola castle is located, one of the delights of the Este family. Continue along secondary roads for 15 kilometers until you reach the Pomposa Abbey, dating back to the 11th century. Follow the canals towards the Adriatic Sea and arrive at the Canneviè oasis from where many hiking trails start to explore the area.
You arrive at the seaside and cycle along the beaches of Volano, delle Nazioni and Pomposa. In the areas of the Lidi Ferraresi the best-known specialty is eel, there are often festivals and in the markets in the center you can find marinated eel for sale. Continue inland towards Comacchio, known as “little Venice,” famous for its many canals connected by the Trepponti.
