From Ferrara to Gorino and the Po Delta

This 90 kilometer itinerary takes you to discover the Po river and as you pedal you can realize how much it changes along its course. Leave the station and follow the right bank of the Po up to Serravalle. Then the river splits and you take the meandering Po di Goro to Gorino, on the Adriatic Sea. To return to the starting point in Ferrara, you can take the train to Codigoro which is 25 kilometers from Gorino.

Where better to start your ride than in the city of bicycles? From Ferrara station follow the ancient walls, which have now become a cycle/pedestrian street from where you can admire the city from above. You leave the city and you are immediately in the middle of the countryside, for ten kilometers you cycle along the asphalted cycle path towards Francolino where you meet the slowly flowing Po.

Continue another 37 kilometers along the right bank of the Po crossing the canals of the Po Valley, created for the drainage of the territory. At Serravalle the river splits, take the Po di Goro, which marks the border between Veneto and Emilia Romagna. Following the course of the river you enter the delta park and as you get closer to Gorino you can start to smell the scent of the sea.

You pass by Ariano Ferrarese and Mesola, where you find the imposing and majestic castle, one of the most prestigious homes of the Este family. You continue pedaling for another 20 kilometers and you arrive in Gorino where you can see the Po diving into the sea to the rhythm of the waves.
