Steep climbs on the hiking trails are quite common in the Malvaglia Valley. To reach the Romanesque church of San Carlo on the old mule track of the Narapass and enjoy the wonderful all-round view there, it is worthwhile. The church, built in the last third of the 11th century, is simply a pearl, both because of its architecturally attractive layout and because of its precious Romanesque and late Gothic frescoes. The pedestrian suspension bridge right next to it was only built in 2007 so that the church can be reached more easily. The still existing, up to then the only steep access path to the church kept many visitors away. The first restoration began in 1942, the Romanesque church tower is currently being renovated and the coat of arms on the outside cannot be seen at all. Such an abundance of decoration on such a small mountain church is remarkable.
