A slightly shorter tour with fewer meters of altitude today for relaxation 😄. From Tenga we went to the Maggia Valley. You can park cheaply at the train station in Tenga 👍. They are all nice, easy paths that can be mastered with a bit of sure-footedness. If you want, you can still swim at the "beach" in Tenga 👍
A beautiful walk along the Maggia. You don't need to be in great shape and the paths are easy to walk
In my opinion, it's difficult to walk, more like climbing. If you like walking over big stones, climbing up or down steep steps, then this is definitely the right thing for you. It was a bit too strenuous for me. Otherwise, the nature is beautiful and the views are amazing. In summer, there are a few places to swim that you pass by.
Tip 1: Since public parking spaces are usually occupied at the weekend, drive along the railway line to the town of Tegna and park at the Chiesa di S.Maria Assunta a Tegna (approx. 1 km, free at weekends) Tip 2: At half-time, after crossing the Maggia, very good grotto (grotto valmaggese +41 91 796 23 08 https://maps.app.goo.gl/7v994HMssT8dFqfK6) Tip 3: Only with good shoes.
Another beautiful hike. Perfect weather and—surprisingly for this area—a free parking lot to start from. Even with restrooms. Very nice 😉 If it were a bit warmer, you could also lie on the sandy beach and jump into the ice-cold water. We refrained from doing the latter, but there were actually places where people weren't just lying on the beach, but some were even jumping into the water.
In February and March, one advantage of hiking is that you can almost always find a good parking spot. The disadvantage is that many small restaurants are closed until the end of March. The first part of our hike takes us partly directly along the Maggia River, which is teeming with swimmers in the summer. But soon we climb the steps with beautiful views. About halfway through the hike, we cross the suspension bridge to Avegno. The village was awarded the Wakker Prize in 1982 for its traditional village character. From here, a well-marked white-red trail leads towards Ponte Brolla. From there, the path climbs steadily through the forest to the Monteggia junction. Here, the descent begins on the well-trodden path to the main road, where we crossed the old railway bridge and ended our hike.
