Circular walk Pelgrimshoeve Kafarnaüm in Vessem – Our Monastery Path

In January I also walked this small route but then whole parts were inaccessible because of the high water level. Now the opposite - ditches etc. bone dry except for the large pond. There my dog and I were welcomed by hundreds of frogs.

Today was a chilly and cloudy day for walking, with occasional rain showers, but that actually suited the peaceful atmosphere along the way. In Hoogeloon, I passed two churches: the old, freestanding tower and the large St. Pancratius Church, which stands out with its dome and is even called "the cathedral of the Kempen region." Further along the route, I walked along a long boardwalk that winds through a kind of gnome forest—a surprising section, with charming trees and a beautiful wooden boardwalk that added to the charm of the walk. Despite the changeable weather, it was a varied and enjoyable walk.

This was another nice and varied walk. Through parts of the villages of Overloon and Vessem, right through the fields, over forest paths, and meadows along the stream the Beerze. Along the Beerze it was still very wet and swampy. But luckily not wet feet. Cold, but with a lovely sun.

We take a circular walk from Vessem, past the historic burial mounds and the winding river "Kleine Beerze", through the Eersel village of Hoogeloon and back to Vessem.
