This route was planned by komoot.
Motto today: keep moving, the wind is needed for cooling. Everything in the "green" area, the only thing that worries are the many fire ruins on the Moselle and also in Lütz 🤔
First, it went quite effortlessly from Emmelshausen down to the Moselle on the Schinderhannes-Untermosel cycle path with the addition "cycle path with a view". But you could get breathless at the grandiose views of the vast Hunsrück. What beautiful country! On the Moselle, my joy was more in the autumnal colors of the Wingerte on the other side of the river, because the Moselle cycle path there was rather stupid, as it ran right next to the federal highway 49. But then it went straight up over the Hunsrück-Mosel- Path through the Lützbachtal to Lieg and further on the 3-Täler-Weg to Kastellaun. What a beautiful section of this round tour through what feels like dreamy valleys! Schinderhannes was patiently waiting for me in Kastellaun. He escorted me safely to the starting point of the round in Emmelshausen. In the heights of the Hunrück, I was seized by the thought that the constant breezes and the almost countless wind turbines were playing a game with us: These things don't make electricity, they make wind!! Exactly, how else to explain the perpetual breezes?
From Emmelshausen we followed the former railway line, now the Schinderhannes cycle path, to Kastellaun. There were wonderful views of the Hunsrück and Eifel mountains. Just right for a hot summer day, as the path runs shady through a wonderfully green forest and was almost deserted today. In Kastellaun the direction changes and we follow the cycle path to Treis Karden. A wonderful descent through an idyllic, untouched, green, shady valley that I had never seen before. It was so beautiful...we'll see each other again soon. Back on the Moselle, the traffic, noise and heat brought us back to reality. A wonderful day comes to an end.
