The design of Schoenstatt chapels is always based on the original, as is the case here in the Hunsrück Forest near Gondershausen.

March 21, 2025,Schon wieder Wandertag 😊, Traumschleife Rabenlay
The relatively short section along the Baybach stream and the exit from the Baybach valley are truly beautiful, but only make up a good 2km of the total route. The rest of the trail is quite pleasant, but not particularly exciting.

The tour leads around the village of Gondershausen in the Hunsrück.

At first it is promising, mostly on dirt roads. From about km 5 you descend into the beautiful Baybachtal. 🤗
Unfortunately, after far too short a time, you leave the valley again and climb a short climb to the Rabenlay viewing rock. A short time later you leave the …

The distance is given as 15.5 km. Today we had 17.5 km including the access from the parking lot on the Garmin. The paths are very varied and the path is very entertaining overall. There is always something new to discover or to marvel at. The way is well signposted, only right after the chapel we got lost somewhere / …

Unfortunately, I can't find anything dreamy among them today. It was a 70% field and meadow path, 30% through forest where you had to fight your way through waist-high nettles and thorny branches that made you sweat on the sometimes slippery tree roots and I still didn't have any views or things worth seeing even after 17km.

Unfortunately, a good 75% only field/meadow paths...quite boring 😒
If the tour went counterclockwise, this means the largest proportion of meadows at the beginning of the route. It would have been even more frustrating the other way around.

After the very successful first dream loop of the day (komoot.com/de-de/tour/1488828527) we went to nearby Gondershausen to the (Alb)Traumschleife Rabenlay.

The freshly changed socks quickly got wet again here too thanks to wet meadow paths - well, you just have to expect that in this weather. But somehow we also expected that the dream loop would be the nicer one …

And today we headed back to the Hunsrück for another dream loop. The Rabenlay Trail is about 16 km long, has around 300 meters of elevation gain, and is certified with 75 experience points.
Fantastic views, the impressive Baybach Valley, the Rabenlay, and consistently great trails. I really enjoyed the tour – okay, after 5 km, my shoes were soaking …

The Rabenlay dream loop is beautiful, but it also has its lengths, i.e. sections where there isn't a sight lurking around every corner. However, you can easily avoid this because the entire route revolves around the town of Gondershausen, which is always easy to "target".
