Leck Fell Lane

Highlight • Viewpoint

There are beautiful views from Leck Fell Lane - to the south-west, wonderful classically-English, so to speak, views of the countryside beyond Cowan Bridge. To the north and north-east towards Whernside and Dentdale.

You are not just on the Leck Fell Lane here, but on the actual Leck Fell in this spot. Lots of caves just next to the road here (Short Drop Cave, Lost John's Cave, Leck Fell Hole, Rumbling Hole, and more!). I'd likely stay on the road - so many caves that it might be easy to fall in.

Three Men of Gragareth

Highlight • Summit

The three cairns are known as Three Men of Gragareth and are an almost surreal in their beauty, overlooking the Lune Valley and the distance Morecambe Bay coast to the west. In other directions, you've got Calf Top to the north, Whernside to the east, and Ingleborough to the south-east. One doesn't quite know what to do with oneself and which direction to look at. A stunning spot - and just a few minutes' walk, too, from the summit of Gragareth to the east.

Gragareth Trig Point

Highlight • Natural Monument

Gragareth at 627m is a large summit plateau; the trig point here is at the highest point of the plateau. It's easy to walk up to it and enjoy the fine views of Ingleborough (unless you are shrouded in mist and fog, like Tom Cruise tends to be before he goes into battle!), obviously in view on the horizon.

The trig point can be in a small puddle of water, so you might be unable to rest your heavy pack against it, I am afraid...

View of Kingsdale and Ingleborough from Bradamaya

Highlight • Natural Monument

Bradamaya is an enclosure on the eastern side of Gragareth, with Braida Garth farm visible in Kingsdale (in the valley) to the east from here. Rising beyond it to the east, proudly, is Ingleborough.

That's to the east. To the south-west, looking down along the dry wall here, which the path (faint at times, so stick to the wall) follows, you've got literally dozens of miles of unobstructed visibility towards the Forest of Bowland. The wall, by the way, is the boundary here between Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
