This route was planned by komoot.
It begins at the starting point "Llano de Jable" with a great view of the most recent volcanic eruption of the Tajogaite and into the Aridane valley all the way to the Cumbrecita and the Caldera de Taburiente. As everything below this place is closed, only a few hikes remain without a guide. But one is still possible starting here at the Mirador Llano del Jable. It leads up to the "Montana de El Gallo", past the Pico Birigoyo (1807m) and after our highest point, the Montana de El Gallo (1619m), in a loop on the way back past the Volcan Bernadino. This is a circular hike above the forbidden zone. So don't worry. Anyone can do this hike, even without registering!
Today's tour 47 from the Rother hiking guide takes us through the lava sand landscapes of the Tajogaite volcano, which erupted in 2021. We didn't have the TV images in front of our eyes when we saw the volcano from a bird's eye view, with its collapsed crater rim and the hundreds of meters wide lava flow towards the coast. On the way back we drove on the newly built roads through the cooled lava flow from 2021. It's eerie and oppressive to see the ruins where the lava is running out of the windows, or a cemetery with urn graves that only protrudes slightly from the lava flow.
Under the spell of Tajogaite - the volcano active in 2021. Tour 47 from the Rother hiking guide leads through its lava sand landscapes and you can experience the volcano from a bird's eye view. A more than impressive tour that starts at the astronomical viewpoint Mirador Llanos del Jable. This time we rented a car to explore part of the west and south.
Short - unfortunately a little foggy - climb starting at the Mirador Llano del Jable through the pine forest to the "Hahnberg", but the fog gave it a certain atmosphere, even if the view was "a little" obstructed. The possible detour to the Bernardino volcano is unfortunately still closed at the moment. Template for the tour: Rother WF Tour #47
After a few hikes on the Cumbrecita, we finally ventured out. Unfortunately, the cloudless morning sky deceived us... So, there was little to see other than misty forests, so it was more of a short walk on paths mostly covered in ash and pine needles.
A ghost also walked around 😁 But it wasn't anyone, it was my wife
Here is my second tour... First it goes leisurely along lava roads, then it would be possible to turn off to the Bernardino volcano - but there is a sign here too and you are not allowed to go back there, yet. So we continued on to other viewpoints and then steadily up the mountain, on small paths in the middle of the pine forests... a dream... really... the black earth - the green pine needles, the views of the deep blue sea... you never get enough of it... It is best to walk with poles, because you can sink a little into the lava sand every now and then. I was completely alone here too and enjoyed it so much... only further up - already heading towards the parking lot - other people came towards me... I then turned off to the Montana del Gallo - from the "summit" you have another fantastic view of the Tajogaite... its crater is clearly visible and the sulphur fields... I am still so impressed by it... Then it goes down again and back to the car park...there I sat down on a lava stone and enjoyed the view aaaand...the paraglider, I was there at the right time and could see him take off.... Wow wow wow!! I actually didn't want to leave...it was just a great, unforgettable experience. The pictures only partially reflect how it felt... And now I wanted to go to the visitor center...and that's what the third part of today is about.:-)))
Easy tour with beautiful views of the volcano. The ash rain creates a unique natural landscape. Can also be done with children.
