This hike takes you to the northernmost ridge of the massif, Chirat Rochat. The loop of just under ten kilometers offers superb 360-degree panoramas and is accessible to everyone.
The route begins with a long climb on a forest track in the heart of the Neufond woods. Part of the forest had to be replanted after the storm at the end of 1999. Today it is a succession of cedars, pines, firs, beeches and oaks which line the slopes of this slope of the Pilat.
The Chirat Rochat is revealed and we benefit from a sumptuous panorama. We can distinguish the Alps, the Trois Becs and sometimes even the Ventoux.
After Chirat a very steep descent awaits you. The trail crosses Chirat but you have the option of taking another path in the forest.
The rest of the route continues on a forest track to the Croix du Collet. You can stop for a drink at the roadside inn. The welcome is always warm.
The return passes through the southern part before turning north towards Châtelard and Croix de Montvieux. La Ferme de la Croix will be an ideal place at the end of the day for a drink in the sun. The little extra: the farm has pétanque courts!
