A set of mills dot the Guadiana river and have been maintained since the 15th century. Puente Navarro is an example, but the most important and the only restored one of this set is the Molino de Molemocho, located at the entrance gates of the National Park, It was one of the oldest and most important flour mills, since it was already mentioned in 1575 in the Topographic Relations ordered by Felipe II.

Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Crosses

Highlight • Religious Site

The current church presents an aspect that is the result of its transformation in the Baroque period, despite its medieval origin. The construction of the primitive church was due to the authorities of Daimiel and the Order of Calatrava. In the current building the walls were raised, a rampart was built for the vault and the dome was built. This sanctuary houses the patron saint of Daimiel, the Virgin of the Crosses, a 14th century carving for which the Daimiel population feels great devotion. Since the 18th century and to this day, the sanctuary consists of the church and next to it a large patio with semicircular brick arches that support the corridors, these look out onto the patio between right feet and balustrade, giving way to the different rooms upstairs which, together with those on the ground floor, are rented by pilgrims.

Molino de Flor de Rivera

Highlight • Historical Site

Mill of Flor de Ribera. Torralba de Calatrava. In the 18th century it depended on the College of the Jesuits of Almagro, next to which they built a farm, winery and chapel and which served as a sales point for travelers. During the Modern Age, it was one of the most profitable hydraulic mills in the Guadiana.
Although quite abandoned, curious to see.

In the north of the historic Campo de Calatrava, in the Guadiana basin, crossed by its tributaries Becea and Bañuelos, is the wonderful town of Malagón.

In its term there are two completely different landscapes: in the east the plain dominates, while the west is a mountainous area as it is the last foothills of Los Montes de Toledo. At the foot of the Sierra de Malagón, there are three lagoons of volcanic origin declared a Natural Reserve: Nava Grande, Nava de Enmedio and Nava Grandes or Chica.
The villages of Malagón are El Cristo del Espíritu Santo, La Fuencaliente, Las Peralosas, El Sotillo, Los Quiles, Valdehierro, Piedralá and the annex Las Povedillas.

The parish was built in the 17th century and is the most famous building in Fuente el Fresno.
It is built on the side of the mountain and has a double function: religious and defensive.
The temple is mainly made of masonry, although some corners of the façade have been reinforced with brick.
Inside the temple, you can find the image of Santa Quiteria and a baroque main altarpiece.
In addition, it houses crosses of military orders, reflecting its history and relevance in the community. I hope this information is useful to you!😊
