Hiking
Step into the beautiful surroundings of Heidestein-Bornia, where nature welcomes you with lush forests, vast heathlands and sand drifts. This 5 kilometer walking route is suitable for walkers of all levels.
After a few hundred meters you reach the first stop, an old tea house. This charming wooden tea house was built in 1912 in the characteristic chalet style. What makes this spot extra special is that it once served as an ice cellar and water reservoir. Utrechts Landschap recently lovingly restored the tea house, preserving all authentic elements.
As you continue walking, you will notice that Heidestein-Bornia has a lot to offer, from the rich forests to the idyllic moors. Here you can often see a flock of sheep grazing. You will also come across a viewpoint here, complete with an inviting bench. This is the perfect place for a well-deserved break, with a view of the heather in full bloom. But this place is just as enchanting when the mist rolls over the fields in winter. In fact, any time of the year is breathtakingly beautiful here.
How do you reach this walk? You can park at Prinses Arianelaan, or take public transport and get off at the Hoog Kanje stop. This way you can walk to the starting point in just a few minutes.
