Cheese fondue in Lage Vuursche - Cozy forest cafes in Utrecht

Would you like to take a brisk walk through the woods and then warm up in a cozy place in nature? Then quickly pack your backpack and hit the road. This tour of almost 15 kilometers takes you through and around De Hooge and Lage Vuursche, after which you treat yourself to a traditional Dutch cheese fondue.

Via lovely forest paths and beautiful avenues you walk towards Boswachterij Hooge Vuursche and then to the De Stulp nature reserve. Here you walk on sloping narrow forest paths and heathland and through sand drifts. Further into the nature reserve you will pass the serene Pluismeer. Along the way there are several places with benches for a break, often with beautiful views.

You continue the route through the forest towards the village of Lage Vuursche. If you need a stop, you will find many cozy restaurants here where you can catch your breath before continuing your journey to the Klein Drakenstein national monument.

After this, wonderful forest trails await you again, this time through the Lage Vuursche forestry. With the rustling of the leaves and the scent of fresh greenery, you will eventually arrive at Theehuis 't Hooge Erf. You can enjoy delicious meals and tasty drinks in a unique location all year round. Are you taking the walk in the fall or winter?
