This is a beautiful headland and the views onto the rocks and out to sea are super nice. Nearby too is Porthdinllaen lifeboat station which is always worth a visit and a donation.

The trail typically starts from the car park in Morfa Nefyn. From there, you'll usually begin with a walk along the beach before heading towards Porthdinllaen village.

What is the terrain like on this trail?

The trail is considered moderately challenging due to sections that can be steep, involve steps, and feature uneven parts of the coastal path. You'll encounter a variety of surfaces, including sandy beaches, rocky sections (especially at low tide), and paths that might be muddy. Appropriate footwear for beach, path, and some rocky areas is recommended.

Is this a loop trail?

Yes, the Porthdinllaen Marine Trail is a circular walk. It typically loops around the headland past the lifeboat station and onto the golf course, eventually returning towards Morfa Nefyn.

What can I see along the route?

You'll enjoy spectacular coastal views, rugged cliffs, and golden beaches. Highlights include the picturesque fishing village of Porthdinllaen, the famous Ty Coch Inn right on the beach, and the modern RNLI Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Station. It's also an excellent spot for wildlife, with opportunities for seal watching and diverse birdlife.

Is the trail dog-friendly?

The trail is generally dog-friendly, but it's important to keep dogs under control, especially around wildlife and on the golf course sections. Always check for local signage regarding leash requirements, particularly during nesting seasons or in sensitive wildlife areas.

When is the best time of year to hike this trail?

The trail offers beautiful scenery year-round. However, for the most pleasant experience, late spring to early autumn (May to September) typically provides milder weather and better trail conditions. Always check local weather forecasts before you go.

Are there any permits or fees required to hike in the Llŷn Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?

Does the trail connect with other paths?

Yes, the route also passes through significant sections of the Llŷn Coastal Path, offering connections to a wider network of coastal walks.

Are there any places to eat or drink along the way?

Nice costal walk, great pub on the beach. I cut this walk a little short by cutting across the golf course as it was getting dark
