Hiking
This somewhat more challenging circular hike following in the footsteps of Max Wallraf in Cologne guarantees a varied holiday experience at the foot of the Rubihorn. The best way to reach the starting point by public transport is from the Ice Sports Center bus stop.
At the beginning of this multifaceted hike, you walk past the Schattenberg Stadium up to the Breitenberg. Two descent options are then available. The Tobelweg trail down to the valley requires sturdy hiking boots and surefootedness, but offers a beautiful nature experience in the deep gorge of the wild Gaisalpbach stream. The well-maintained road, on the other hand, is a much more comfortable and less demanding option.
Once you reach the valley, the trail continues effortlessly along the Gaisalpbach stream for a short distance until the hiking trail leads you back to Oberstdorf on sunny meadow paths with great views via Rubi. Tip: If you take a short detour to the other side of Reichenbach, you can enjoy a refreshing break in the mud bath there.
Before your tour, it is best to check the Oberstdorf Tourism mountain sports report for information on the trail network and the current mountain weather: www.oberstdorf.de/alpininfo/bergsportbericht.
