Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cortes

Highlight • Religious Site

The sanctuary of the Virgen de Cortes, in Alcaraz, is one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Spain. It is one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in the town by tourists. The quintessential religious center of the region.

It was inaugurated on September 8, 1222. Its layout is circular and it has a baroque altarpiece in the Main Altar made in 1727. In 1265, Alfonso X the Wise met with his father-in-law James I of Aragon to delimit conquered lands. Both were informed of the apparition of the Virgin and decided to contribute to the expansion of the Church and the construction of a hospice.

Its church, museum, reliquary, souvenir shops, and bar are a must-visit site in Alcaraz for all believers and tourists.

The Virgen de Cortes is highly venerated for the miracles she has performed throughout the ages.

Robledo Station

Highlight • Rest Area

The old Robledo station has been recovered as rural accommodation. It is the best option to spend the night without deviating from the greenway.

Just one kilometer away is the town of Robledo where there are bars, grocery stores and a pharmacy.

If your objective is simply to make a stop before continuing on your way, you can find a rest area with shade, drinking water and information signs a few meters from the road.
