This beautiful walk had it all. Departing from "Jachthaven Lunegat" we went straight into nature. A paradise for nature and bird lovers. Falcons and other birds of prey, cuckoo, reed warblers, golden orioles..., they were all there. Niwet to forget those many geese, water and meadow birds. Even the mosquitoes were in full force...😜😫, but we took that in stride. Fantastic view from the observation tower, a highlight in two respects... What was missing here: people... Simply wonderful...
Everyone knows the Lauwersmeer area. The southernmost part of this nature reserve is the Kollumerwaard, a nature reserve in the province of Friesland. Here, a forest ranger's path has been set out, but also a birdwatching route and a walk through the Diepsterbos. Today we have combined these walks. Of course, during this walk you walk along water, but also through reed fields that are so large that they disappear behind the horizon. You walk over marshy grass paths through small forests and pass the Reiddomp lookout tower. A beautiful walk.
Along the De Reiddomp lookout tower. Here you have a beautiful view over the Lauwersmeer area. On clear days you can see Schiermonnikoog. The tower opened in 2022 and is 25 meters high. The route continued through forests and many reed plains where Konik horses and Scottish highlanders graze. Beautiful route!
