You will surely have already heard of the Valentino park viewpoint: it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Lombardy. Recently, a suspended walkway was added to this corner of paradise, giving you the sensation of walking on empty space. Yes, the place is popular and often crowded, but it's worth every step.
To give you a slightly different experience, this Tour starts from Ballabio Superiore instead of Resinelli. Leave your car in a free car park or arrive by bus from Lecco. Val Grande welcomes you gently with a path that is not too demanding, but with a constant slope. With the Grigna stream in the background, proceed, immersing yourself in the woods, letting yourself be lulled by the buzz of nature. If you stop in silence some deer could cross your path.
The first part of the trek is an intimate encounter with the forest, but then, little by little, the panorama reveals itself. Landmarks begin to emerge: Ballabio, Corno del Nibbio, Alpe Cavallo and, finally, the serene bodies of water of the Garlate and Olginate lakes. Once you reach Pian dei Resinelli, take a break. There is the Forno della Grigna and various refuges waiting for you. If you come in high season or on weekends, reserve your place. The last part of the Tour finally takes you to the panoramic walkway. It will take you about 30 minutes. Meanwhile the Grignetta smiles at you from above, and every step brings you closer to that leap into the void. The walkway, with its grid floor, can be a test for those who suffer from vertigo, but the view is something unparalleled.
One last effort and, through a suggestive path in the woods, you reach the top of Coltignone. Less crowded, but equally evocative. And then, the return begins. But it's a different return: you'll see things you hadn't noticed before, little details that now pop out, making each step a new discovery. And, I hope, a return with a heart full of gratitude for the wonders that Grigna has to offer.
