This varied cross-border path leads over forest paths, through heathland landscapes with enclosed heather moors, through birch forests and along Gagelmoors. The terrace edges, which were created over thousands of years by the erosion of the Meuse glacial valley, are characteristic.

Today, in perfect weather, we set off on a Water.Hiking.World tour, specifically the Meinvennen premium hiking trail. Overall, a very beautiful trail. The dense forest provided us with cooling shade. Suddenly, we found ourselves in the middle of a flock of sheep. The lambs delighted us, and the sheepdog showed respect for his work. Overall, a highly recommended hike. Thanks for the suggestion 👍
Today we first drove to Holland. Once we arrived there, we hiked one of the Waterways World Tours. The Premium Trail, Meinvenn. A variety of terrain, including forest paths, sand, a bit of asphalt, and diverse impressions along the way, make the tour perfect. Heath, forest, meadows, fields, and moorland are all there to marvel at. Overall, a beautiful route.
Yesterday five of us went on the premium hiking trail “Meinvennen” near Herkenbosch NL. We started from the hiking car park in a miserable 10 degrees and drizzle. The way there was a bit of an adventure, my navigation system had a sense of humor and guided us there via semi-forbidden paths 😅. The varied, cross-border path took us along forest paths, through heathland landscapes with enclosed heather moors, through birch forests and along Gagelmoors. There were quite a few hikers and cyclists out and about who, like us, braved the weather 😂. After 17.7 km and 3 hours 50 minutes at around 120 m we were back at the parking lot. The average speed of around 4.8 km/h, which was quite high for us, was noticeable to me in the evening 😂 ...... Oh yes, of course it was nice and we had fun too.
Did a great hike in the national park de Meinweg today. Including a stop at a café on the Venhof.
In my opinion the worst of the 9 premium hiking trails Maas/Schwalm/Nette. Except for a few spots, it's a sub-par trail that I will NEVER hike again. Also no direct refreshments on the way. Appeal to all hikers. Please do not throw waste into nature. This includes paper handkerchiefs and cigarette butts. Take a small garbage bag/metal can and you can take your rubbish with you. Paper decomposes, but everywhere in the green nature there are white paper handkerchiefs lying around and cigarette butts contain microplastics and toxins.
It begins with long straight stretches through the forest, followed by easy ascents and descents and gradually develops into a magical and varied circular hiking trail, even when the weather is fantastic. I didn't know that the area / landscape is so beautiful here. Very, very recommendable !!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We'll definitely be back again
I actually just wanted to test the waterproofness of my new trousers. It didn't rain during the hike. But the weather never cooperates either... And I'm actually a fan of the WaWaWe trails, because I like them in areas I know well, they're usually nicely done, and lead to beautiful places via footpaths. Actually. I know this area well too, and thought to myself today: try following the WaWaWe Meinvennen. It left a mixed impression, though. First the positive: The area here is really beautiful. The trail also leads through very varied landscapes: forest, fields, heath. It is signposted in an exemplary manner, but you have to make an effort to get lost You can see what's coming 2 km in advance. Can be driven on with a 40-ton truck without any problems. In other words: for the most part you walk on straight, wide paths.
Since there is a lot of heathland, this hike is certainly very beautiful in summer.
