3/5 ⭐, when I start in Los Molinos I meet a lot of tourists and some want to go hiking, like me. However, after 200 m on the way I have to climb up the cliffs, so that afterwards I am alone at the top and enjoy the view of Los Molinos. On the plateau I can choose the path myself. Even on the ascents and descents through the bays I usually have to look for the way. After about 1.5 km I reach a wonderful coastal path that I would have loved to follow for hours. Unfortunately, after a lonely 4 km, during which I only meet a few wild goats, I have to take the way back through the hinterland. It is hot and I am glad that I can take a rest in the shade of a small stone hut before I climb a sweaty, steep 250 m in the sun. The view of the hinterland and the coast is fantastic. The next 4 km on wide, desolate roads are monotonous and I'm looking forward to finally coming across the Barrancos de Los Molinos. A green valley has developed at one of the few freshwater springs on the island, where many birds nest, so access is closed from February 15th to July 31st.
A hike from the Rother hiking guide. We choose a different – less steep – starting point and walk along the rugged, rocky coast – fantastic! After that, it's as usual... rocky – less wind today – uphill. The sun breaks through and illuminates the stony landscape. A few goats soften the view. Due to bird protection regulations, we can't descend into the green ravine at the end. It looks good from above, too.
