Bamburgh Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

Perched atop a green mound next to the sea, Bamburgh Castle is one of the most impressive castles in the UK. Built as early as the 5th century, the castle has witnessed many important eras of history – from the era of Anglo-Saxons to the Vikings, and Normal rule to the Second World War.

In 1894, Victorian Industrialist William Armstrong purchased the castle. His family still own it. You can visit the castle from 11am - 4.30pm daily. Tickets cost £11.25 per adult. You can find more information, here: bamburghcastle.com

View of the Farne Islands

Highlight • Beach

Great views out to the Farne Island. Lovely on the sunny day. But it can be brutal in a cold North Easterly wind, coming right of the North Sea. A route to pick for a nice day

Seahouses Harbour and Beach

Highlight • Beach

A large village nestled on the coast, Seahouses has a beautiful beach, fishing port and harbour. The village is a popular destination thanks to its rich sea wildlife such as seals and seabirds and as it is the point of embarkment to visit the Farne Islands. The village is a perfect place to whistle away time, enjoying the fresh sea breeze and an ice cream. It is also known for its kippers that have been produced locally in the village for over 200 years.
