Climbing at Mook Molenhoek – Beautiful moments on the Mookerheide

Tie your laces tight, because today you will discover the rolling surroundings of Mook Molenhoek while climbing and descending. You can enjoy heathland and forests for more than 11 kilometers. And a breathtaking view is never far away.

Due to the height differences in the landscape, it promises to be an intensive workout. Right at the start of the route, your calves can get some work done as you climb up towards the Mookerheide.

Before you continue exploring the heath, run across the Heumense Schans. The fortification is an old defense structure built in the 17th century. Nowadays it is a beautiful nature reserve where various animal species live, such as lizards and snakes.

From the ramp you continue across the Mookerheide, which is at its most beautiful in the flowering period (August-September). The area then turns into a breathtaking purple blanket. There are several points on the heath from where you have a spectacular view of the surroundings.

In addition to the heathland, the trail run also takes you through forest paths, where you can fill your lungs with fresh air in the company of the waving leaves. This way you can still tackle the last part!

A few kilometers before the end you catch your breath at the hunting lodge. If you still have energy left, be sure to explore the associated park and beautiful gardens.

The Tour starts and ends at Mook Molenhoek station and is therefore easy to reach by public transport. Are you coming by car? Then you park it in the village, or in the parking lot of the hunting lodge (Mookerheide Estate). In the latter case you can start the route from that point.
