Located in the Armorique regional natural park, the Monts d'Arrée are home to the highest point of Brittany: Roc'h Ruz. At an altitude of 385 meters, this rocky summit dominates a massif which separates Finistère in two. The “red rock” in French reigns supreme in a landscape mainly made up of moors, heather and gorse.
This accessible loop begins in the town center of Plounéour-Ménez. This charming little village was a center of linen weaving during the 17th and 18th centuries. Leaving the village you embark on a path which winds its way through the heart of atypical vegetation. Moors and heathers color the landscapes while gorse guarantees their security.
Then, it is a beautiful section of ridge which begins at the foot of Roc’h an Diri Bras. Several rocks follow one another before reaching Roc’h Ruz. That of Trédudon offers a nice overview of your objective just before reaching it. At the top, enjoy the pretty panoramas that open up to you before starting the descent to return to the village of Plounéour-Ménez.
