This route was planned by komoot.
Normally the ascent of Ben Hope - the northernmost Munro - was planned. But we opted for the Sandwood Bay, the most beautiful beach in Scotland! The beach is surrounded by red sandstones with rolling hills of some dunes in between. A little later the surprise came, because I climbed the nearby cliffs, after which we suddenly stood in front of Am Buachaille - again a rocky outcrop. The way back was rather difficult. There was no road, we had to walk by feel to the 130m high Carn an Righ. This was no mean feat in swampy moors! A little later we joined the main road. Marina noted that we were always the only ones doing "our" walk. The other tourists took the tourist route up and down. I didn't fall off the beach, but the way back over the cliffs of Cap Rhuba Buachaille was again a high flyer!
Hike to one of Scotland's most beautiful sandy beaches.
