Ledbury Market House

Highlight • Monument

Ledbury's iconic Market House is an unmistakable presence, its timber frame hoisted up on stilts above the streets. The idea behind the design was to faciliate both a town hall in the main building and a bustling marketplace below it. Built during the 17th century, it is now a Grade I-listed building at the heart of the market town.

Quite arduous but we did this on the hottest day of the year. There is one place where the footpath appeared to be blocked and we ended up wriggling under a fence. Would have liked more woodland walk (a lot of paths run next to woods in the open) but overall a great success. We stopped for iced coff at …
