Great Rowbarrow Cairn

Highlight • Historical Site

The Rowbarrow cairns are probably Late Neolithic to Late Bronze Age, or 2400-1500BCE. They are thought to be burial cairns or barrows covering the grave of an important person, family or group.

In clear weather, this ridge path has epic views in every direction. It leads west from Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor and in Somerset. To the north, admire the Bristol Channel and South Wales; to the south, see if you can spot Dartmoor in the distance.

Dunkery Beacon Summit

Highlight • Natural Monument

Dunkery Beacon, atop Dunkery Hill, is the highest point in Somerset. Standing at 1,705 feet (520 m), it boasts spectacular views. On a clear day, views stretch across the Bristol Channel and Wales, Exmoor and Dartmoor.

St Mary Magdalene Church, Winsford

Highlight • Historical Site

Despite evidence of a church on this site before the Norman Conquest of the 11th century, this church is later, with the tower actually dating back to the 15th century.
Originally, it was dedicated to a Celtic saint before adopting its current dedication.
The nave, chancel, and porch were constructed in the mid-19th century.
