Hiking

The Württemberg Wine Trail is approximately 470 kilometers long and leads through the wine-growing landscape of northern Württemberg. On this tour, we'll take you on a 31-kilometer section through the beautiful Rems Valley.

It starts at Winnenden train station. You'll hike through the town and then up to Hanweiler. Surrounded by vineyards and forest, you'll climb the Korber Kopf. After a break with a magnificent view, you'll continue over the Hörnleskopf to the Kleinheppacher Kopf. Over one final hill, you'll then return to the Rems Valley. Here in Grunbach, you can split the hike and stay overnight, for example, at the Landgasthof Hirsch if the entire tour is too long for you. In Grunbach, you also have access to the S-Bahn (city rail) train.

After crossing the Rems River in Grunbach, the route leads you back out of the valley and up into the vineyards. You'll hike towards Schnait and then, at times, steeply and via stairs through the forest to the Karlstein. At the top, a modern barbecue area awaits you, inviting you to take a break and enjoy any refreshments you've brought with you. Recharged, you'll hike along the Strümpfelbach Sculpture Trail to Stetten, where you'll reach the end of the hike. From there, you can take the bus to the Waiblingen, Fellbach, and Endersbach train stations.

To record your hiking experiences, you can use the digital hiking pin concept. This gives you the opportunity to collect digital pins by reaching certain destinations in the Remstal. You can find more information here: https://www.summitlynx.com/de/region/remstal

Weinhof Lorenz

Highlight • Restaurant

Family-run since 1951, it is home to the region's oldest wine tavern. Here, traditional wine-tasting dishes such as home-made sausage and meat specialties are served, complemented by homemade wine-tasting bread from the wood-fired oven. The wine tavern is open seasonally for approximately eight weeks in spring and fall. Especially in good weather, the cozy wine garden at the vineyard in Hanweiler invites you to combine a visit with a hike or bike ride. Information is available here: weinhof-lorenz.de.

The Beinsteiner Seele offers a great place to rest for hikers or for children's birthday parties. There are plenty of tables and benches, as well as a large barbecue area. There's also a small enclosure for donkeys, which sometimes stop here during hikes.

Country Inn Hirsch Remshalden

Highlight • Restaurant

Owned by the Wachter family since 1803, it is considered the oldest inn in the region. The impressive foundations date back to the 11th century, while the picturesque half-timbered structure was built in 1610. The charm of bygone centuries can be felt in every corner – a perfect stopover that combines tradition and hospitality.

Karlstein Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

A beautiful spot for a scenic break, you'll enjoy a magnificent view over the vineyards, into the Remstal valley, and all the way to Stuttgart. There's also a small playground and a barbecue area. The stone was placed at this spot following a district dispute between Strümpfelbach and Endersbach in 1793. Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg mediated the dispute between the two communities.

Woman with Goose Statue

Highlight • Monument

This sculpture is often overlooked because the sculpture path makes a sharp curve after the previous sculpture “Daphne” (at the Wengerterhäusle with grape press)! At Wengerterhäusle, just walk straight ahead for 100 meters and you'll get there automatically!
