A wonderfully scenic and picturesque waterfall, this. It is accessible through the network of the Craik Forest's paths. Every single second of walking up here to see this is worth it.

Ropelawshiel to Gair Forest Track

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A long, remote and lonely walk in the Craik Forest. A wide logging track under your feet (can be muddy after lots of rain - this is Scotland!), but otherwise comfortable. A huge amount of forest and a number of well-wooded hills that you will be passing. The border between Roxburghshire and Selkirkshire runs very much near this segment.

There is a mound on the hill here (Craik Cross Hill at 449 m), which is believed to have been a Roman signal station, which was excavated in 1946. An information board is provided here, telling you a bit more about the site.

This was a biggy and tough going. My phone said we climbed 2270 meters though out the entire walk, which was what my legs were telling me lol somehow Steph missed the waterfall because of all the fallen trees blocking our way. But she convinced me to cross a river - shimmying across a tree which saved us going back …
