Pilgrimage Route to the Sacro Monte of Varese

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The ascent to the Sacro Monte di Varese is a pedestrian path open all year round. Great for the whole family, for children, even with dogs in tow. Wide and cobbled, it enjoys an excellent panoramic view along the entire route. Place of artistic and religious interest, due to the presence of the 15 stations of the Rosary in as many very impressive and richly decorated seventeenth-century chapels.
At the top is the Sanctuary, the Clausura convent and various panoramic terraces with restaurants. You can also go directly to the top by car or bus, but the beauty of it is the climb on foot (about 2.5km). Have a good excursion!

Today we climbed the holy mountain of Varese to the church of Santa Maria del Monte. The rocky path takes you past 17 chapels from the 16th century, each chapel having its own style. We were very lucky with the weather. When we got back down, it started to rain. By the way, this hike with the chapels is part …
