Hiking

First hike and then dive into the cool water. Is there anything nicer in summer? And that three times. The Seealpsee, the Fählensee and the Sämtisersee shine like sparkling gemstones in the middle of a postcard-perfect mountain backdrop - three beautiful lakes that are part of your tour.

You start at Wasserauen train station. You hike along the Schwendibach, first gently and then a little steeper up to the popular Seealpsee. Here you can fortify yourself in one of the two inns for your further journey. The exciting rope-secured path leads through the Teufelskanzel to Meglisalp. Your climb remains steep: a steep path takes you up to the Widderalpsattel before going down to Fählensee, which will impress you with its dark water. From the Bollenwees mountain inn you have a great view of the water. Now it gets a little more comfortable, because you continue on a small road to Lake Sämtisersee. Another short climb and it goes through the Brüeltobel into the valley to Brülisau.

Tip: You can also complete the tour in a relaxed manner over two days. An overnight stay in the Meglisalp or Bollenwees mountain inns is recommended.

From Brülisau you can take the bus, line 192, the train or a taxi back to your starting point in Wasserauen. The walk takes about 45 minutes.

Seealpsee

Highlight • Lake

Beautiful mountain lake in the middle of the Alpstein, with a panorama that couldn't have been created better on the computer. Free-roaming cows, bright green sparkling water, cheese dairy, alphorn players... what more could you want?

Meglisalp Mountain Inn

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The inn has been expanded and freshly renovated since Pentecost 2021, and it's become a wonderful establishment, nestled in the heart of the Alpine village of Meglisalp 👌 the most beautiful village in the Alpstein region!

Fählensee

Highlight • Lake

Very beautiful mountain lake at 1447 m above sea level, which, like the Sämtiser and Seealpsee, is part of the Alpstein.

Ideal for cooling off after a hike.

When there is no wind, the mountains are beautifully reflected in the water.

Lake Sämtiser

Highlight • Lake

Sämtisersee at 1200 meters
As with Fählensee, there is no outflow to be seen here. The water from both lakes flows underground and reappears in the Rhine Valley. Outflow or not, enjoy a refreshing swim!
The water level fluctuates greatly, which is why Sämtisersee almost dries out in very hot summers.

July 20, 2024,20.07.2024. 3 Seewanderung im Alpstein
I set off from Wasserauen at 6:30 a.m., up the slope and the Seealpsee greeted me. Then left up the forest and along the rock faces... wonderful... quiet, no one around. And still nice and pleasant in the temperatures.
Then hello Meglisalp,,😃 lots of hikers were having breakfast.

Thank you for the great hiking tip.

Is it also advisable to do the tour in the opposite direction?
