Old Mill District

Highlight • Historical Site

From 1916 through 1983 Bend was a busy place for timber production. Two sawmills operated on both sides of the Deschutes River: Mill A and Mill B with the ladder one making up the largest portion of the Old Mill District. At their peak, the mills were two of the largest pine sawmills in the world!

Today, you can stroll along lovely trails close to the Deschutes River, take a bite in one of the many restaurants, go shopping or paddle on the river. There is also a branch of REI right here.
