Panorama Tour – Hoher Kasten via Fählensee to Alp Sigel

This panoramic tour takes you to the Appenzell panoramic mountain Hoher Kasten, to which you float up with the cable car from Brülisau (parking is available at the Kastenbahn). Here you can fortify yourself for your tour in the revolving restaurant and enjoy the fantastic 360-degree view of the Alpstein ranges, the Allgäu and the Voralberg Alps.

The nice thing about the tour is that you don't have to tear yourself away from this gigantic view. On the ridge you hike past the Staubern mountain inn, where you can also stop off. In a lively zigzag it goes steeply down to the Bollenwees mountain inn, which is located on the picturesque Fählensee. Here too you can indulge yourself with all sorts of Swiss delicacies. Some people also refer to Lake Fählen as the “Fjord of Switzerland” because it is enclosed between two sloping rock faces and evokes Norwegian associations.

Accompanied by further unforgettable views and the ringing of cows' bells, your path takes you past lush pasture alps and small alpine huts to the Alp Sigel cable car. The self-operated gondola takes you comfortably back into the valley to Pfannenstiel (around one kilometer from Brülisau and therefore your starting point). Tip: You can only buy tickets for the cable car with cash.
