This route was planned by komoot.
Word of caution, we walked this using Garmin and, there is a definite discrepancy in distance between the two platforms, could be that Komoot is being very optimistic and could be as much as 2 miles short. However a great lunch can be had at the Point House.
The first walk of our Pembrokeshire holiday and it didn't disappoint, what a cracker of a walk! We started it half way around than planned, so that we could get the undulating part compeleted first. We absolutely loved this walk! We had a debrief at The Old Point house and at the Hibernia Inn - we are on holiday after all! 🤪🍻 There's quite a bit of 'talky' stuff on the walk instructions, but I'm too tired (aka CBA) to add them on here! 🤣
A new stretch of WCP for me, and even better that this was a circular route! 🔁 A lovely scenic start along the water and woods, followed by rugged and beautiful clifftop stretches, with views of Freshwater West and then to Angle. With a lovely ice cream pit stop at West Angle Bay 🍦 Lots of cows on the path but they didnt bother us 🐄 A beautiful early birthday walk for my mam's birthday 🎂
Mostly easy walking with lots of history and industry. Some steep scrambles the last few miles, theres a few cafes and a pub serving food.
With the tent packed up, I headed straight from the campsite to Freshwater West beach on the morning of the fourth day of hiking. Here, I made a brief stop at the grave of Dobby the Free Elf before returning to the coastal path, which included many sections across pastures, mostly home to sheep, but also cows and horses. I took advantage of the café on the beach at West Angle Bay for a short break, including a delicious cake. Beyond West Angle Bay, there is another beautiful viewpoint of Thorn Island Fort, before the path becomes more overgrown, and I only occasionally caught glimpses of the water, which already contained the first industrial structures. I had reached my destination for the day on the other side of Angle Bay.
