This route was planned by komoot.
The full loop of this moderate trail is estimated to take approximately 4 hours and 54 minutes to complete. However, depending on your pace and how much time you spend exploring the various points of interest, it could take up to 6 hours.
The trail is best enjoyed from spring through autumn. During these seasons, the weather is generally favorable for hiking, and you can fully appreciate the diverse alpine and pre-alpine scenery. Winter conditions may present challenges due to snow and ice, requiring specialized gear and experience.
While classified as 'moderate' and requiring a good fitness level, the trail offers options for early return, which can make it more accessible for families or those looking for a shorter hike. However, the full loop involves significant elevation gain and mixed terrain, so it's not ideal for absolute beginners or very young children without prior hiking experience.
The trail offers diverse terrain, including dense woods, open meadows, and passages through isolated hamlets. You'll encounter mixed ground of rocks, grass, and detritus, requiring sure-footedness. There are also natural and geological points of interest, such as the Balma Grossa Cave.
This trail is deeply connected to the local legends of Pradleves. You'll discover artistic installations and charming straw figures in villages that bring stories of ogres, witches, and dragons to life. Key highlights include the Cialancia Hamlet, Borgata Cugn, and the Madonna degli Angeli Chapel. Don't miss the Sentiero delle Leggende – Painted Eyes on Trees.
Yes, the trail is generally dog-friendly. However, it's always recommended to keep your dog on a leash, especially when passing through hamlets or near wildlife. Ensure you bring enough water for your pet, as water sources might be limited along certain sections of the route.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to access The trail of the legends of Pradleves – loop in Valle Grana. The trail is freely accessible to the public, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region without additional costs.
Specific parking information for the trailhead is not detailed in the provided sources. However, as the trail is a loop starting and ending in Pradleves, it is advisable to look for public parking areas within the village of Pradleves itself. Local signage or community information boards upon arrival may provide further guidance.
Yes, the route briefly intersects with sections of other local paths. You will find yourself on parts of the Via John Kennedy, the Cialancia-Rocio Grosso trail, and the Podio - Monterosso Grana route for short distances as you complete the loop.
The trail passes through or near several isolated hamlets. While specific cafes or restaurants directly on the trail are not mentioned, the village of Pradleves, where the loop typically starts and ends, is likely to offer options for refreshments and meals. It's always a good idea to carry sufficient water and snacks for the duration of your hike.
What truly sets this trail apart is its deep connection to the intangible heritage and folklore of Pradleves. Beyond the natural beauty, it's an ethnographic and anthropological experience, bringing local legends of ogres, witches, and dragons to life through artistic installations. It's also a testament to a community project, with volunteers of all ages contributing to its creation and maintenance.
Nice ring through legends, woods, villages, the last three km can be avoided...dirty and abandoned...however feasible at the moment...my dog recommends...a few chestnut curls
Half-valley circular route, starting and finishing in Pradleves. The path is perfectly signposted and made pleasant and very interesting by the presence of numerous panels that illustrate many legends and popular beliefs of this valley. The entire route is marked with yellow-red markings and arrows. This trail follows the full version of the ring, but there is the possibility to choose a shorter route or one of medium length.
THE PATH IS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND PANORAMIC. YOU WILL MEET SEVERAL VILLAGES, SOME WELL PRESERVED AND OTHERS COMPLETELY ABANDONED BUT WHICH TAKE YOU BACK TO THE PAST LIFE OF THE LOCAL FAMILIES, CILANCIA IS DEFINITELY THE MOST SUGGESTIVE AND FASCINATING VILLAGE OF THE ENTIRE PATH.
I would like to point out that the duration of 5:30 also includes a lunch stop (I have never stopped Garmin). The entire tour without photo stops and without lunch can be done easily in just over 4 hours.
