This route was planned by komoot.
This is an easy walk and ideal if you have a dog in tow that likes to stretch their legs as there are two sections that are very dog friendly. There are two car parks at Ampthill Park (both free) and the one on the map is the West car park which is larger and generally has more empty spaces (check at the weekend if the rugby and/or football is on as this will fill these car parks, and the side of the roads, very quickly). The first part of the walk takes you through Ampthill Park itself and there are many route choices through here if you want to extend the route. There is also a coffee shop/cafe situated in the park grounds. You can split the route in half by taking a break for coffee/beer/lunch when you reach Ampthill town centre. Lots of options for coffee, Market Square the most popular but you will stumble across a number of great alternatives if you walk down one of the side alley's in this pretty market town. Costa also if it's your thing. Pubs a plenty, with half a dozen or so within easy walking distance. Marvs is a new small beer shop/kitchen (some seating inside) selling independant craft beers, and the Albion always has a full range of real ales. The White Hart and the Prince of Wales, along with some others, serve lunches. Most if not all of the pubs and coffee shops are dog friendly. The second part of the walk takes you through part of the town before ending up at Coopers Hill, a recognised site of special scientific interest and the largest area of open heathland in Bedfordshire (again dog's are happily allowed to run free).
