Here in Finistère, the world "ends" at a series of capes and rocky outcrops. The Pointe du Raz is one of the legendary highlights of the coast. The Pointe du Raz is up to 70 meters high and offers a sensational view of the lighthouse on the island of La Vieille and the island of Sein to the west. Our hike starts in the Baie des Trespasses, where the first surfers are already waiting for the wave, and leads us to the Pointe du Raz. Then it goes along the coast on the GR34. We walk along a barren, treeless coast, which is however populated by gorse, heather, ferns and other low-growing plants. Every now and then we see mini harbors glued to the rocks of small bays and are accompanied by curious seagulls during the migration. At the Pionte du Diameur we turn inland and are almost immediately swallowed up by lush green vegetation. Man-high ferns often line the paths or expansive trees provide cool shade. Sometimes the paths are almost overgrown and sometimes it continues on small streets. All in all a super nice hike and highly recommended. Today's really great hike starts at the Baie des Tréspassés, an excellent sandy beach in a wide bay, which is also very popular with surfers. The entire tour leads - with the exception of two town crossings - on natural paths that lead as narrow aisles through very dense carpets of plants. The trail is sometimes quite demanding, especially in the sections near the coast due to the profiling and the subsoil. I would also advise against running this section in hot summer temperatures, as there are no trees or other shade providers here. The first section of the route to the western Point du Raz is still well frequented, after that it gets more and more lonely from kilometer to kilometer, especially inland.
