A splendid circular route in the Aveto Park, discovering one of Europe's most majestic beech forests. Starting from the Bocco Pass, trail A10 gradually climbs through ancient forests until reaching the sharp ridge of Mount Zatta.
Not too demanding circular route that offers a splendid view of the sea and the Maritime Alps. From the Bocco Pass, turn towards Varese Ligure and, immediately after passing the Bocco lake on the left, you will find a dirt road on the right where you can leave your car. Continuing on foot, following the AV and A10 signs, keep right at the first crossroads on the panoramic path of Monte Zatta. The first stop is Poggio Buenos Aires, an area equipped for picnics. Climbing further you arrive at Faggio 40, a monumental tree about 200 years old that fell in 2005 and was left there to rot. Here there is also a small wooden shelter (well maintained). You then arrive at the crest: on the top of Monte Zatta di Ponente at 1355 m there is a tabernacle of the Madonna. The view here opens onto the sea and the Maritime Alps. Continuing you arrive at the Central peak where there is a wooden and wrought iron cross with a plaque in memory of the Jubilee year 2000. You then arrive at Monte Prato Pinello always following the white and red trail signs. From there you descend through the beech forest and easily return to the starting dirt road.
After five years, how we missed Monte Zatta! We returned to check the condition of the A10 loop, but above all to enjoy its autumnal colors on a beautiful October day.
